Tuesday Afternoon Diocese of Beaumont Schools WEATHER UPDATE
Diocese of Beaumont school officials are vigilantly monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Francine. Francine has not changed much so far this morning. At 10am it still had 65mph sustained winds, but it has made a slight turn to the northeast. This trend should continue over the next 36 hours. Francine will likely become a hurricane later today, and it looks like it will make landfall over the middle of Vermillion Bay in Louisiana late tomorrow afternoon or early evening. The biggest threats here in SE Texas will be scattered showers and gusty winds. For most of our area, they will stay below tropical storm force. Our schools will be open tomorrow, and all after-school activities will continue to take place as scheduled. We will continue to keep you updated as the week progresses.
