Deacon Laurence “Larry” David died February 12, 2020, at the age of 74. A gathering of Deacon David’s family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2020, at St. Mary Church, 912 West Cherry Avenue, Orange. There will be an additional gathering of family and friends from 9 until 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2020, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. His interment with military honors will follow be at 3:00 p.m., at St. Mary Cemetery, Orange, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
Deacon David grew up in Orange, a 1963 graduate of St. Mary High School there. He stayed active in many areas in the community all through his adult years, especially cooking hamburgers – with the Lions Club and with St. Mary School. He was also known for his gumbo. In addition, for many years, he was involved with the United Way, the American Red Cross, the YMCA and the Knights of Columbus. He was assigned as a deacon to St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica for many years.
