The 30th Annual National Maritime Day Observance Memorial May 20 honored those lost at sea and the survivors of the Texaco-Oklahoma at the Sundial Memorial in Port Arthur.
Southeast Texans also paid tribute with prayer to the S/S Gulfstag mariners that went down with the sinking of the ship 50 years ago.
Those in attendance of the memorial processed to the seawall to witness the new Sabine pilot boat, named Port Arthur, lay the wreath out onto the water.
The event was sponsored by the Port of Port Arthur and the diocesan Apostleship of the Sea.
