The Texas State Council of the Knights of Columbus has donated $100,000 to help rebuild St. Mary Parish in Fannett, the second parish in the Diocese of Beaumont to receive $100,000 in Hurricane Harvey relief funding from the Knights of Columbus in the last two weeks.
The organization presented a check to St. Mary pastor Father Jim McClintock Dec. 17 following Mass at St. Martin de Porres Mission in Cheek.
“Charity is the first principle for the Knights of Columbus,” said Terry Frugè, Texas State Council State Warden. “And we felt it was our duty to help with our brothers and sisters on the Gulf Coast.”
The organization presented a $100,000 check Dec. 10 to St. Joseph Parish pastor Kevin Badeaux to help St. Joseph recover from flood damage from Harvey.
St. Mary and St. Joseph, two of 23 parishes that received damage, were among the parishes hardest hit by Harvey flooding.
