Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, thanked the deacons of the Diocese of Beaumont and their wives for their service Jan. 21 at the deacon memorial Mass at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont.
The Mass provided the deacon community the opportunity to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of deacons and their wives who have passed away.
Bishop Guillory said that other members of the Catholic faithful, like deacons, are also servants of Christ. He emphasized that Catholics are called to continue the mission of Jesus, that they are formed through prayer and Church, and that they are also messengers of the word of God.
“When we leave Church this afternoon, we are sent to share the good news with the world,” Bishop Guillory said in his homily.
