“People desire God. And they’re made in the image and likeness of God. Sometimes, in a sense, we lose sight of that,” said Bishop Brendan Cahill in his keynote address at the Convocation of Catholic Leaders on Aug. 18 in Beaumont
Bishop Cahill, Bishop of the Diocese of Victoria, said the Church has to continue to take care of people who feel they are on the outside of society, including the homeless, new immigrants, the incarcerated and others.
Inspired by the National Convocation for Catholic Leaders, Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, was determined to have a local gathering for the Diocese of Beaumont.
Held at the Holiday Inn Aug. 17-18, the convocation provided an opportunity to learn about the people the Church serves through prayer experience and liturgies, keynote speeches, breakout sessions, and planning for parishes.
