Chrism Mass

Chrism Mass, which Bishop David Toups concelebrates with the priests of the diocese, is an expression of the fullness of his priesthood and of the close unity of the priests with him. During Mass, Bishop Toups blesses the oil of the sick that is used in the sacrament of the sick and the oil of catechumens that is used for the sacrament of Baptism. Bishop Toups also consecrates the holy chrism that is used in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Orders. At the end of Mass, the oils are sent to all parishes, missions and chaplains.
