The Diocese of Beaumont is pleased to announce that Marc Owens has been selected as the new principal of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Port Arthur for the 2024-25 academic school year.
Owens currently serves as a 6th-8th grade science teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in the Port Arthur Independent School District. He was recognized as Campus Rookie of the Year in 2020-2021 and served as Science Department Chair from 2020 to 2022 and again in 2024. Prior to his career in education, Owens has held significant in operations management where he honed his leadership and organizational skills with SupplyWorks and ProStar Industries.
Owens is actively involved in the Port Arthur community. He volunteers his time as a Religious Education catechist at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where he also assists with administrative duties. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
“Mr. Owens brings an abundance of knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to his role as an administrator,” Diocese of Beaumont Superintendent of Schools Robert Reid said. “His familiarity and love for St. Catherine School through years of support has been evident, and we are excited about his leadership in the SCS community for the 24-25 school year.”
Owens’ son John Patrick Kelsey is a former St. Catherine student and a current freshman at Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School. Owens has been a regular volunteer at St. Catherine School for several years. Owens, his wife (Tatiana), and son reside in Port Arthur.
St. Catherine School, founded in 1961, has provided a strong education for hundreds of students from Port Arthur and other communities in Jefferson County.
