To all of Southeast Texas, join us as men and women of faith throughout our great Texas pray on Sunday for the Ukraine. In addition, Texas Governor Greg Abbot issued a proclamation March 9 announcing Sunday, March 13, 2022 as a Day of Prayer for Ukraine. Governor Abbott also announced that the Texas Governor's Mansion will be lit blue and yellow on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 in solidarity with the Ukrainian people. In addition, the Ukrainian flag will be flown at the mansion on Saturday and Sunday.
Here’s a prayer that you could consider using which was found on the website for the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Houston:
Prayer for the peace in Ukraine
God of infinite mercy and goodness, with grateful hearts we pray to you today for Peace. You offer us your peace continually and constantly remind us that peacemakers are blessed, “for they shall be called children of God”. May your voice resound in the hearts of all, as you call us to follow the path of reconciliation and peace, and to be merciful as you are merciful. We pray to you for Ukrainian people, who are experiencing war and deaths. Bless the leaders with wisdom, to build together a world of justice, and to break down walls of hostility. May you continue to inspire all of us to oneness of heart and mind, to respect the dignity of every nation, which have their origin in the image and likeness of God impressed upon every human being Grant eternal rest to the dead and quick recovery to the wounded, we pray through Christ our Lord, Amen!
