Several years ago, 10 men heard the vocation call to be a permanent deacon. On Saturday, Aug. 27, those men took another step toward ordination.
At a Mass at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica Chapel, Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, instituted the 10 as acolytes, presenting them with the vessels of hosts and wine as a symbol of their service at the altar.
“The local church is truly blessed that you have responded to the call and are continuing your journey,” Bishop Guillory said.
The bishop also thanked the families, especially the wives. He expressed his, and the church’s, gratitude for their support.
The 10 will be ordained as permanent deacons next year.
