The Easter Triduum
April 21, 2011April 24, 2011

The Easter Triduum begins Holy Thursday, April 21, 2011 with the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper, includes Good Friday of the Lord's Passion, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night, and ends Easter Sunday, April 24, with Evening Prayer.

Holy Thursday celebrates not only the institution of the Eucharist, gift of Christ, gift from Christ, but Christ's example of how to live in humble service.

Good Friday celebrates not only the historical death of Jesus, but also the triumph of the cross over sin, once for all, by One without sin.

Easter celebrates not only Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, but new life for all, through baptism, through the ongoing conversion of the faithful, and through the promise of salvation from our Creator, our Savior, and the Spirit who continue to work in the Church.

The Triduum does not celebrate only what once happened in history, but what continues to happen among the faithful people of God, forgiven, blessed, and commissioned to serve.
