Continue My Work
Bulletin and Pulpit Announcements

ANNOUNCEMENT WEEKEND – January 28 & 29

During the weekend of February 11 & 12 all of us will have an opportunity to continue good works of our Lord and Savior by supporting the 2012 Bishop’s Faith Appeal for our diocesan ministries. Our theme this year, “Continue My Work,” is taken from Paul’s letter to the Philippians, one of the first Christian communities.  He wanted to give them the confidence and inspiration to continue the work of our Lord Jesus.  The letter is a reminder that we have the strength to do great things here on earth.  This is a letter of love to the faithful, encouraging them to continue to live their lives fully engaged as a Christian community.  As you go about your work this week, take the time to consider the ways the Holy Spirit has strengthened you during the “tough times.” Despite adversity, has God graced you with strength, courage, family, freedom? Also consider the many ways others have shared their gifts with you this year. Now are you willing to continue God’s work?

Next week, we’ll talk more about the many ministries the appeal supports and the good works that have been accomplished because of your past Stewardship.

EDUCATION WEEKEND – February 4 & 5

The 2012 Bishop’s Faith Appeal will be held next weekend. This year’s theme is taken from Paul’s letter to the Philippians.  He expresses to them that even though times may be tough, they should continue to do the good work of the Gospel.  Each year, through the Appeal, we are challenged to put our gifts at the service of others in the wider community of Southeast Texas. The needs of our people go far beyond our own parish resources. Funds are used for the education of our deacons, for ministry to our growing Hispanic population, for those in prison, for Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas, as well as several other diocesan ministries. Take the time this week to learn about how funds are used through the special edition of our Catholic newspaper or through the diocesan website (www.setxcatholic.org). If you are not receiving our diocesan newspaper, please contact our parish office or the communications office at the diocese. Our newspaper and our website are also funded through the appeal. Please take home a prayer card this week and think about the image on it. How are you continuing the Lord’s work in your   actions?

COMMITMENT WEEKEND – February 11 & 12

Today is the day that Bishop Guillory and your parish ask(ed) for your support for 2012 Bishop’s Faith Appeal. Our theme this year is a mandate to continue the Lord’s work. Each of us have different gifts. But all of us are called to share what we have received. If each of us gave only 1% of our current treasure and 1% of our time by praying for each other what a difference we could make! Remember God only asks that your gift be proportional to what you have been given. Your BFA parish team and Father have already made their commitments. Please make your prayer and financial commitment this week.

FOLLOW -UP WEEKEND – February 18 & 19

If you have not made your gift to the Bishop’s Faith Appeal, please prayerfully consider doing so. Our hospitality ministers are again passing out the Pew-Pledge envelopes and the Spiritual Pledge/Intention cards. The Appeal continues to be necessary because many needs in our Diocese cannot be effectively met by the individual Christian or by the local parish. And because of the sluggish economy, this year many of our ministries, like Catholic Charities, are facing increased requests for their work. We thank everyone who has pledged to the 2012 Appeal. We ask those who haven’t to pray to the Holy Spirit as you consider your gifts of your prayer time and treasure. Then we ask you to make a proportional and intentional gift of both based on your current circumstances.

2nd FOLLOW-UP WEEKEND — February 25 & 26

On behalf of Bishop Guillory and the more than 110 thousand individuals who are served by our diocesan ministries, I want to thank all those who have pledged to this year’s Bishop’s Faith Appeal. If you have not made a financial pledge, we ask you to prayerfully consider doing so. We also ask that you make a pledge to pray for our diocesan ministries and the local Church, the Diocese of Beaumont. Pledge envelopes and Spiritual Pledge/Intention cards are available in the pews.

...the One who began a good work in you
will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.

- Philippians 1:6
