St. Katharine Drexel Feast Day

March 3 marked the third annual celebration of the feast day of St. Katharine Drexel. The celebration took place at Blessed Sacrament, Beaumont, and included a Mass celebrated by Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, and a dinner featuring guest speaker Sister Gilda Bell, SBS.

Bishop Guillory spoke about the works of St. Katharine Drexel and how much she meant to the community during his homily.

“St. Katharine Drexel reached out and touched the lives of the Native American community, the African American community and the poor in general. I’m sure that she has touched all our lives in some way or another,” Bishop Guillory said.

After Mass, parishioners gathered at a dinner to listen to Sister Bell speak about her experiences as a Sister of the Blessed Sacrament, the order found by St. Katharine Drexel.
