World Priest Day is a celebration and affirmation of the men who commit their lives to the Lord and to the Church through the Sacrament of Holy Orders. It is an opportunity for Catholic parishioners to thank, affirm, and share their love and support for, our priests.
World Priest Day is observed on the third Sunday in September. The sixth annual World Priest Day will be observed on September 17, 2006.
Some ideas to celebrate World Priest Day:
Send a card to your parish priest or bishop telling them what their sacrament and/or friendship means to you and your family.
Introduce yourself and your family to your priest or bishop if you have not met them.
Invite a priest or bishop whom you know, or do not know, to breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Go on an outing together, such as a dinner and a play, bowling, movie, hunting, fishing, golf, tennis, etc.
