Over 800 Southeast Texans will have a chance Wednesday night to view a hometown pitcher perform on the diamond at Minute Maid Stadium. Beaumont Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, will be adding cleats to his usual clerical attire as he throws out the first ball for the Astros-Twins game at 7:05pm on June 21, 2006.
Bishop Guillory was apparently invited to throw the first ball Wednesday night because he's bringing hundreds of his personal, screaming fans to the game. Stadium seats will be filled with more than 800 teenagers and adults from the Diocese of Beaumont who are in the Bayou City for the 40th annual Catholic Youth Convention at the JW Marriott Hotel. The Astros-Twins game is part of the fun activities scheduled for the four-day event, which begins Wednesday afternoon.
