Santiago Fernandez and Louis Canter, music clinicians from Oregon Catholic Press (OCP), are coming to the Diocese of Beaumont. They will offer a workshop on bilingual liturgy, sponsored by the Office of Worship. It will be held on four dates, in five different locations.

Sunday, February 4, 2007 -- 3:00pm - 6:00pm, at Our Lady of the Pines in Woodville
The workshop will look at the principles and practices that guide Music Ministers in choosing music for liturgies, with an emphasis on bilingual liturgies. Santiago and Louis will present music from the new bilingual hymnal 'One Faith, Una Voz', and other resources.
Santiago Fernandez is a composer, recording artist, and workshop presenter. He has dedicated more than twenty years of his life to music ministry, sharing his talent with Hispanic communities through courses on liturgy and published music with OCP. Currently, Santiago is music minister at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Pontiac, Michigan, a multicultural community. He is also the regional coordinator for the Hispanic ministry of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Louis Canter is associate director of worship and coordinator of music ministries for the Archdiocese of Detroit. His ministry as a pastoral musician has spanned more than thirty years. He is an instructor of music at Madonna University in Detroit.
The Diocese of Beaumont is blessed with a cultural diversity, a diversity that should be experienced in all parishes, especially in our liturgical ministries and in our music.
