Music Ministry Workshop with David Anderson and Paul Tate

David and Paul are two excellent clinicians coming to us from GIA Publications, publishers of liturgical music.

David Anderson is the Director of Music and Liturgy at Ascension Parish in Oak Park, Illinois. He has spoken at many national conferences and retreats. He offers beautiful experiences in the Taizé prayer form, which includes singing and silent meditation.

Paul Tate is a composer, pianist, vocalist, and recording artist, who lives and works in the Atlanta area. His music is characterized by scripturally solid texts.

They will present a wealth of information in three workshops, sponsored by the Office of Worship. These workshops are open to anyone in the diocese.

Saturday, September 23, 2006 -- 9:00am - 2:00pm

Each workshop contains different material.

St. Elizabeth Parish, located at 2006 Nall St in Port Neches, is hosting this event. The workshops will be held in Hebert Hall on the parish grounds.

David and Paul will:

• Discuss the principles of music as ministry to the assembly, with an emphasis on the Assembly, Choir Directors, Accompanists, Cantors, and Choirs.

• Explore the liturgical documents that are the premier guidelines for a parish music program which is truly ministerial.

• Discuss the Mass and appropriate music for the various elements, using music from GIA and from Paul's own compositions, while we all enjoy singing together.

• Prepare and coordinate the Taizé prayer experience for all present.

There is no charge for this three-day workshop. Participants will receive complimentary music. Refreshments served Thursday and Friday evenings, and a Continental Breakfast and Lunch served Saturday, all at no charge.
