St. Paul shows importance of Eucharist

“Eucharist is not me and Jesus. It's me and Jesus and everybody. Everyone is included. Everybody on the face of the earth is welcome. We are a Eucharistic people and we always have been,” Father Don Donahugh said during his talk at Sacred Heart-St. Mary, Port Arthur June 26.

Catholics from various parts of the Diocese of Beaumont gathered at Sacred the church for a celebration of the Year of St. Paul.

Father Donahugh, chaplain at Christus Hospital-St. Mary, Port Arthur, began the morning by talking about the debt owed to St. Paul.

“We owe St. Paul a tremendous debt because he is the apostle to the gentile, to me and you. It's from St. Paul that we get the format of the Eucharist as we know it today,” Father Donahugh said.

Those in attendance had an opportunity to go to confession after Father Donahugh spoke. Mass was celebrated to close out the day.
