A great way to start your day

April is here and along with the showers it is also bringing with it a time for fellowship and food, all for a good cause. Breakfast with the Bishop is almost here.
The 18th annual event, taking place April 25, is a chance for people in the diocese to get to know Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, during the most important meal of the day and also help out those in need.
The proceeds from the breakfast held at St. Anne, 2715 Calder, Beaumont, benefit Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas. The $20 ticket gets service with a smile from priests and religious, as well as the bishop, and an all-you-can eat breakfast.
A longstanding tradition at the Breakfast with the Bishop fundraiser is the presentation of the Humanitarian Award to a person in the community who has served selflessly.
Clara Jo Liberto and Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Robichau Sr. will receive the Humanitarian award this year. The Robichaus will receive the award posthumously for their work with the poor since the 1950s.
“The Robichau, are being honored for their dedicated service and mission of taking care of the poor, which started in the 1950s. They distributed clothing and other goods stored in their home, and even had to add on another room due to growth,” Dean Terrebonne, CEO of Catholic Charities said.
“Years later the mission project was turned over to Catholic Daughters of the Diocese of Beaumont, as the Catholic Daughters Charity Center, at 1392 Magnolia,” Terrebonne said.
Terrebonne also commented on the great work of Liberto who serves on the Catholic Charities board as well as many others throughout the area.
“Clara Jo is a dedicated member of the board here at Catholic Charities and she does so much around the community it would be difficult to try and list it all,” Terrebonne said.
The award is offered to an individual or organization who “by exemplary service, work, leadership or dedication, has furthered the Mission of Catholic Charities.” The Catholic Charities Board of Directors determines who will receive the Humanitarian Award.
Breakfast with the Bishop will be 9-11 a.m. Tickets are available from any Catholic Charities board member, parish offices, and the Catholic Charities office.
