The Christus Hospital-St. Mary Minor Care Center celebrated its grand opening June 10 in Port Arthur.
“This center has been in the works for a little over a year. We’re all very excited to have all of this space, and we actually have an extra room that could be converted into two more exam rooms if the need presents itself,” Dr. Hector Cantu, medical director for the center, said.
The facility is equipped with seven exam rooms, each of which has its own adjustable patient chairs and tables. The center also contains a lab for blood work and an x-ray machine.
The facility exists to treat minor care or minor emergency situations including broken bones, sprains, allergies and pediatric care.
If a patient at the center requires more care than the center can provide they are transferred to the emergency room at Christus Hospital-St. Mary, Port Arthur, either by ambulance or by their own transportation.
The center is at 8445 Memorial Blvd. in Port Arthur. It is open daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information please call the center at (409) 989-5400.
