There are many events throughout the year to honor the Virgin Mary. Members of the Legion of Mary gathered March 28 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Vidor, to celebrate the Acies.
“The Acies is a yearly rededication to Mary,” Father Paul Sumler, pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes, said.
Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, celebrated Mass followed by the Consecration of the Blessed Mother.
He spoke about the work the legion does during his homily and talked about how important Mary was.
“She was the first missionary,” Bishop Guillory said.
The Acies are held every year at a different parish.
“The members of the Legion of Mary pledge their devotion to the Holy Spirit and Blessed Mother every year,” Judy Talbert, Legion of Mary member, said.
